The study of extreme climate events, such as floods, prolonged droughts, hurricanes and heat waves, involves several approaches. Among the main ones, the following stand out: Analysis of Observational Data, Climate Modeling and Computer Simulations (AI), Remote Sensing and Satellite Images and Statistical and Probabilistic Analysis. Within the last approach, in this lecture, I present three methods for the study of extreme dependent components, associated with complex systems that can present multimodal behaviors. The practical applicability of the three approaches is illustrated in climate data from some cities in Brazil.
